3.0 out of 5 stars Cool sight for the price, but not a real EOTech by a long shot.,
I got this sight for my new .223 California-legal Self-loading Rifle, mounted it on top of the A2 carrying handle, and finally took it to the range last weekend to sight it in. Since this is an EOTech knock-off, I will mainly focus on the differences I've noticed after a trip to the range. As expected, the sight is every bit as rugged as the real EOTech, and the controls are simple and intuitive once you consult the diagram included with the package. It also uses the standard AA batteries, which take up more rail space, but they are also far less annoying to replace when needed than the ones used by smaller EOTech sights.

I'm no expert on these things, but as far as I can tell, this sight uses different construction from the pixelated laser hologram seen on real EOTechs and a solid reticule seen on this one. It seems to be a hybrid between a simple red dot sight and a multi-mirror hologram setup used by EOTech. For what it's worth, the reticule is nice and crisp, with two extra dots between the center and the bottom of the reticule for holding over at longer ranges (not as pictured in the photos). When I shot at a target 25 yards away with both eyes open, the reticule went over the target nicely, and the bullets generally went where they were supposed to (it was my third time ever shooting an ar-15 style rifle).

Notably, there is a fairly noticeable parallax at short distance, which is virtually eliminated with the real EOTech sights. In my opinion, this is not a major issue in a battle rifle as long as proper marksmanship practices are followed by the operator, but Bullseye shooters will probably be disappointed.

The other issue I noticed is that the eye relief is not at all unlimited, and the reticule gets fuzzy if the sight is more than a foot or so away from your eyes. In my case, the sight was mounted on top of the carrying handle and it was not an issue. If you decide to go for a scout-style mount or a ProMag-style mount that mounts the sight in front of the carry handle to co-witness the holosight with the iron sights, you MIGHT run into problems with fuzzy reticule.

My absolute biggest complaint is that the elevation/windage adjustments are very insensitive, and there isn't any sort of manual included to help with the process. I did get it zeroed in, but I burned up way more ammo on the process than I would have liked.

All in all, this is a case of getting a little bit more than what you pay for, and if you can get one of these for $100, it's a very, very decent sight for casual shooting if you can't afford a real EOTech.
